A lot has happened since getting back on the rock as we have decided to shift our adventures into high gear as I just found out we are off for another permanent adventure in about six weeks. Saturday night we went and enjoyed some live music by a kick ass Alaska Native (and Greenlandic Native) group called Pamyua. These guys play all over the world and we were lucky to get to hear them here in Kodiak. Two of the members are brothers and are Yup'ik Inuit and African American and the female vocalist is a Inuit from Greenland.

Sunday morning Justin made us all Eggs Benedict which we washed down with Bloody Marys
To walk off the hardy brunch we went mushroom picking / hiking. The Mrs. lucked out and didn't have to look hard for this clump of "Chicken of the Woods" (and yes Bro it tastes like chicken)

Yes, heard about the big new assignment, and am appropriately sad about it. But one thing you learn living in Alaska is that while friends move away, you're not losing them, you're just gaining someplace new to visit when you go Outside.
I think the move is also a chance to pull the old switcheroo with this blog -- instead of relating the strange life in Alaska to friends and family back east, you can relate the strange life back east to your friends back here.
And once again, if someone had just mentioned that Library Lisa was with you Saturday night, I might not have decided to just stay in....
we have made life a big adventure so moving to DC is just another chapter, actually lots of chapters with lots of photos. You’ll have to put up with more shots of (reluctant subjects (the kiddos) ) but we are going to peep out all the culture that DC has to offer when we are not cruising the Shenandoah Mountains
