Feeling More and More Like (a) Home

Our furniture and stuff finally made it yesterday so instead off an empty house we now are living in a box laden house. Slowly we have been trying to unpack and make this place a home, of course my job is to stay out of the way while the Mrs. empties and transforms the place. At least the living room and TV are in place, I only say TV because we (actually the Mrs.) have been TVless for a week.

We did manage to take a break and do some urban hiking today. First we went and hit the waterfront park for Japhy to do some running and then a stroll around town and back to my new second home Murphy's. While there we were informed that not only is it the official Alexandria home of the Patriots but they have group road trips to Baltimore whenever the Sox or Patriots are playing the Orioles or Ravens (Sweeeeeeeeeet). After our thirst quenching Bloody Mary and Guinness we walked through a little church yard a block from the house. The Church is Christ Church and dates back to around 1750 when it was actually the Church of England.

It was in this yard that George Washington announced to a few friends that he was prepared to fight for American Independence it is also the spot that Robert E. Lee met with Confederate representatives , and departed the next day for Richmond where he accepted a position to command the forces of Northern Virginia in the Civil War.
