We lucked out and were able to get that little spot we had previously went to to get some sun 2 weeks ago. Again it was empty and for 2 days we didn't have a soul around us. On Tuesday the weather was beautiful but on the 4th all I can is at least it didn't rain.
Here is the spot, we could have put up a circus tent we had so much room. The tree came in handy to get out of the sun a few times. Try and find a spot this big with your own 1/4 private beach without 5000 people on the 4th of July down in America.
As we were setting up camp Japhy helped out by going and finding a stick and lay down in the shade
That little blip up on the tree line is our car and campsite, again not to shabby for a vacation spot AND it was free.
Of course camping out doesn't have to be uncomfortable. While we do have a nice 8 person tent, when you can drive right into a campsite it is easier to just sleep in the back of the vehicle. Also if we have any visitors during the night, the car is a little safer, but that's rarely a problem
Also it doesn't have to be all franks and beans as the next 2 shots show. The Mrs. having a little sharp chedder on sourdough bread
I'm cooking some venison shish-ka-bobs with veggies and portobello shrooms
After a day of playing and good food it was time to crank up the fire. The Mrs. was tired after her trip to Afognak and a day of fun and sun.
Nothing nicer then camping in the woods and watching a fire while looking out over the Gulf of Alaska, good times... good times
