There is, in theory, a nice oak desk under all of this stuff (one that The Mrs.' dad scored on his many wanderings). On the right is her drum carder, a very expensive piece of equipment made in New Zealand that enables her to blend custom fibers for spinning. Also note the tiny TV on the left. For a long time (before meeting The Man), this was the Mrs. only television. There are also DVD's of some of The Mrs.' favorite shows, including Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Wonderfalls with some South Park thrown in for good measure. She has a pretty sick sense of humor.
This is where The. Mrs.' curls up and makes things... the lace shawl over the back of the futon was knit out of some of her handspun. The teddy bears were gifts from Mom ;-) The quilt has salmonberry leaves printed on the center square, and was a gift made for The Mrs.' as a thank you for her work at the Kodiak Military History Museum. The maker, who is the wife of the director, named it "Salmonberry Soldier"- fitting, since the museum was housed in a bunker at Fort Abercrombie in Kodiak that is surrounded by salmonberries!
Anyone who knows The Mrs. is aware that, in addition to her out of control fiber habit, that she also has a book addiction. Not surprisingly, it is in this room that the two converge:
