The first place we saw when we arrived gave us a chuckle and this photo is for Ish in K-town
The shops and restaurants are great but I'm all about finding the stuff off the beaten path. And this is an example. Called the "Old Stone House", it is the only pre-revolutionary house or structure still standing in DC and was built in 1766.
Nowadays we have small ovens and big kitchens, in 1766 this WAS the kitchen.
In 1766 this was the typical wife / woman's room with her spinning wheel, weaved baskets full of yarn and umbrella swift
Funny thing is, this is our living room 242 years later with a spinning wheel, weaved baskets full of yarn and an umbrella swift.
Next it was on to the start of the C&O Canal (Chesapeake and Ohio Canal). We have never seen a canal system before and this one is cool. The total length is 184 miles.
While modern day G-town is a little bit more la-de-da back in the day it was pretty nasty with the canal bringing in coal with all the coal dust, lye and animal fat for the tanneries and soap factories and lumber for the paper mills along the canal.

“KoKon Bunker of Kabob”... it has a ring to it. The Mrs. was thinking of going over and listen to the proceedings but she is afraid she might say something and wake up in Guantanamo.
