Those Crazy Alaskan People

Today starts a new segment for the blog where I’ll introduce “ya’ll” to the people that have crossed our paths, enriched our lives, made us shake our heads, and have generally kept us insane on our adventure in Alaska. First off are our good friends Jen & Justin. Jen is one of the State Park Rangers here in Kodiak and Justin is a local carpenter that builds some of the houses that keep popping up. They have been in Alaska for a while and have lived in some burly remote areas (Kodiak being the most civilized of these areas). Being that there is not a lot of nightlife and crazy clubs here we tend to hang out at each other’s houses and sit around chatting about world affairs and how we could solve all the worlds problems if someone would just listen to us. Jen is the one that taught Elizabeth to hunt deer and thanks to her and Justin our freezer is stocked with venison for the winter months.

Here is Justin last winter during one of the rare snow falls of the winter (unlike our daily occurrence this winter). We all went down to the beach for a little snow frisbee with the dogs.

Justin also honored us by presiding over our Alaska Nuptials which were held on a cliff overlooking the Gulf of Alaska at Ft Abercrombie State Park where Jen is the Ranger

Jen acted as the witness and rounded off the Wedding Party. Jen & Justin also held a small reception back at their house where all our Alaska friends came to celebrate.

Here is Jen inspecting my gun, and no that's not the solution I was talking about for solving the worlds problems.
