Adventures abound

While we miss the "wild" adventures that living in Kodiak afforded us on an almost daily basis, the DC Metro area has not kept us from getting out and exploring the urban jungle. That said today we headed deep into the urban jungle and explored some new and some old spots. We kind of went on an architectural hunt to check out the cool buildings around the city.

The Mrs. sets out for a day of adventuring (no more adventure mobile so we have to take the urban suburban (the train) these days)

Another Government Agency, by the way most of these photos are Government agencies

Known as the "Crown Jewel of Pennsylvania Avenue", or the "Grand Dame of American Hotels", this is the Willard Hotel (on the right). Among the Willard's many famous guests are P. T. Barnum, Mark Twain, Walt Whitman, Samuel Morse, the Duke of Windsor, Harry Houdini, Gypsy Rose Lee, Gloria Swanson, Emily Dickinson, Charles Dickens and Mae West. Oh and Martin Luther King wrote his "I Have A Dream" speech in his room while staying here.

At this point we were getting hungry so we popped into Shelly's Backroom Tavern. It is a cool little cigar bar that has a great menu.

On the right side you can see humidors that one can rent to keep your cigars fresh. Shelly's is located across the street from the National Press Club and a block from the White House, so you know there have been some interesting conversations in this place
