Sunday Afternoon Visiting

After our excursion to the beach yesterday we stopped in to visit our good friend Frank. It was a good ending to a perfect day (now that the hangover is gone). Frank is itching to get back out and start fishing and get his deer that he didn't get last year, this is the time of year here were everyones thoughts turn to the spring and getting back out to stock up the freezers. I will have to say we were extremely lucky last summer hauling in probably in the ball park of 100lbs of salmon between what we caught and what friends gave us. Frank is already working on getting his boat "Big Butts" (the common name for HaliBUT) ready for King Salmon fishing which if the weather cooperates could start as early as late April. After fishing of course the conversation turned to baseball like it always does. Frank is an avid Oakland As fan but knows that they are not destined for any World Series soon, as long as they beat the Seattle Mariners (which they did 17 out of 19 games last season) and those hated Evil Empire NY Yankees (which they did 7 out of 9 times) he is content. And even though in the same league he likes to see the Red Sox win. Our final topic on our visits are politics and world affairs, and while this is a depressing topic nowadays it is interesting to get the perspective of someone who has been around since Woodrow Wilson was President. One thing I have noticed and this is from talking to three WW II vets (including my father) is that they are more pissed at the current administration than most folks over the war in Iraq. None believe we should be there or should have gone in the first place, now Afghanistan was totally justifiable. Oh well out of the mouths of babes and old men.

Frank also just got one of those new fancy fandangled devices called a cell phone, and even though he was all excited about it and the fact you can keep everyones number in it, didn't have a clue how to operate it. Here Elizabeth is helping explain the functions to Frank (by the look on her face I don't know who is helping who)
