So everyone has that “crazy” friend…well we are no exception. Jason was born a wild man but raised a Mormon. He disappears for a while and then shows up unexpected. In the summer months he works at a remote fish camp on the Aleutian Chain counting Salmon, an important aspect of the salmon management here in Alaska. When he is done with that he comes back to Kodiak and drops anchor for a while and parties like a rock star. Its not uncommon for him to come rolling up to the house at 10 AM with a Pabst Blue Ribbon beer in hand and plop down on the couch with some stories. Elizabeth tries to get some nutrients into him in the form of left over last nights dinner or soup. He sticks around for a few weeks and then disappears for a quick trip down to the Northwest that lasts 3 or 4 months and then back to Kodiak. One of the advantages of working at remote fish camps on the chain is finding glass floats, Jason boasts about having around 12,000 of these gems and this is his retirement fund

Here is Jason at the beginning of the season setting up a weir at Ilnik
