Finger licking good

Last night we went over our friends James and Lenay’s house for dinner and besides great conversation and liquid libations we were treated to some of the best ribs I think I’ve ever had. James made his secret sauce and coated the ribs with it. My contribution was an Alaskan version of frank and beans which I named Rudolph and beans seeing as I used reindeer sausage instead of hot dogs. James is a carpenter, contractor and an all around can do anything guy that is actually working several contracts on the base, one of which is right outside my office so I run into him all the time. Lenay is a Doctor that works for KANA (Kodiak Area Native Association), both are cool Native Americans that wondered up here to Alaska.

Most of the usual suspects were there including our friend Gabe who took the winter off from Alaska and traveled the lower 48 and then Thailand and Cambodia but has returned for the summer. We also met Mike a professional ski bum (must be nice), now I mean a REAL professional ski bum as he just appeared in Warren Miller's new film "Off the Grid" Our other friend Rob (my Homie mentioned in another blog) was also there and is starting to hit the big time with his business Kodiak Solstix which is wild Alaskan salmon jerky. He and his partner Mark (remember Vanilla Flava flave) are now sponsoring some big name athletes, including Apolo Ohno the 2 time Olympic gold medal speed skater or for you reality show fanatics one of the dancers on "Dancing with the Stars". This is the view from their deck, they live on Dark lake, which is still frozen over. James was also excited about his brand new virgin grill that we broke in with the ribs I dubbed it the grillmaster 8000 and as Hank Hill would say it comes with propane and propane accessories.
