I have mentioned once or twice that it rains a lot here (ok so almost every post has the word rain in it), so you would think that planning outdoor activities would be difficult. Well not in Kodiak, the show must go on. Yesterday started out just cloudy so things were hopeful for the Crab Fest events and while the parade went off rain free that was about it. Last night we attended an outdoor party for Amy and Dave, another friend who came back to town for a visit. Again it rained all night, but did that stop us, heck no. Mark the host held the merrymaking at his house that sits on a pond on one side and the channel on the other, a real cool place and area. Mark is a professor of History and Humanities at Kodiak College so needless to say many of the faculty and staff were in attendance, they were easy to pick out by the matching yellow KC rain coats they all wore.
Nothing better on a soggy night than a fire although I guess an indoor hot tub would work also. That's Dave on the left then Cindy, Liz, Kate and her husband and Lisa
Liz cooking a couple of weenies. She is a cool chica that is a fisheries biologist for NMFS, she is leaving to go study ground fish in the Bering Sea, pretty burly being that is her office and she spends a lot of time out there.

Another thing about Kodiak is that everyone has a dog and whenever there is a party the dogs are always welcome, tonight was no different. Here are the hosts; Mark (the human host) and Mica (dog host)
Mica is a Great Pyrenees a pretty mellow dog, there were about as many dogs there as there were people and of course ours and another dog were the only two being pains by wanting everyone to throw sticks all night
The fire kept getting warmer and warmer as the rain kept falling and falling. All in all a good soggy time was had by everyone
