Scrounging for food and Witch Doctoring

The Termination Point hike didn’t happen although the only thing bothering me is the ankle, maybe its starting to rust with all the rain??

We did take advantage of the nice weather (between the Red Sox TV game) and headed to the beach out by the base. There the Mrs. scrounged around for something to make for dinner in the tide pools. The area we went to didn’t produce any salty delights today except for a little sea lettuce so we left almost empty handed. From there we stopped and she collected cotton wood buds to make some lotion or potion.

This little guy was sitting on a log and neither one of us has seen one before so we are trying to figure out what it is. Any birders out there?

Here the Mrs. is scrounging around the beach picking up sea lettuce.

Kind of a big tease here is the amount of mussels that cover the beach. Now I love mussels sauteed in garlic butter but most of the coast here at least on the road system have paralytic shellfish poisoning from the algae they eat, so I just have to look at them and drool.

We found this king crab shell that was still soft and appears the little crabby had just molted from. We saved so hopefully in 12 or so years we can show it to fully grown guy before we put him in a pot

So we did not have a dinner of our bounty from the sea but the Mrs. did come home and spent all afternoon making a delicious spaghetti with venison sauce meal for us
